OBTAINING A CATEGORY B DRIVING LICENCE

Online registration

Registration for our courses can be completed quickly and easily by filling out the form – it only takes a few minutes, and there is no need to visit the driving school in person. If you prefer to register in person, we look forward to welcoming you during customer service hours. Alternatively, if it is more convenient, you can also send your details by email.

Required for registration:

  • Identification documents (and previous driving licence, if applicable)

  • Fee for the KRESZ course

  • Medical fitness certificate (required at the latest before the KRESZ exam)

Theoretical training (KRESZ)

The KRESZ course is conducted in an e-learning format, which you can complete at your own pace. You will receive access after payment, and you will have 180 days available, with 75 hours of learning time provided. After completing the course, you can apply for the theoretical exam.

KRESZ exam

It is important to know that from the start of the course, you must take the exam within 9 months, and pass it successfully within 12 months.

Conditions for taking the exam:

  • At least 16 years and 9 months of age

  • Completion of at least 8 grades of primary education

  • Proof of medical fitness

  • Payment of the exam fee

Practical driving

During practical training, a minimum of 29 driving lessons must be completed, during which at least 580 kilometers must be driven. Practical training can only begin once you have paid for the first 10 lessons.

Practical driving exam

Your instructor will help you schedule the exam and prepare for it as well.

Conditions for applying for the practical driving exam:

  • At least 17 years of age

  • Completion of the required number of lessons and kilometers

  • Valid identification document

  • Existing driving licence (if applicable)

First aid course and exam

The first aid course can be completed at any time during the process of obtaining your driving licence. It is important to know that you can only receive your driving licence if you have an official certificate proving that you have passed the first aid exam. This exam is not a prerequisite for starting practical driving or taking the practical driving exam, but it is required by the authorities for issuing the driving licence.

Since the exam is not tied to completing a course, you are free to decide whether you want to attend a course or prepare on your own. Our driving school offers the option to complete an online first aid course, but you can also participate in classroom training – for example, organized by the Magyar Vöröskereszt. You can apply for the online course via email or by filling out the form available in the Contact section of our website. You can find information about the course fee in the Prices section.

For more information about the first aid exam, visit the official website of the Magyar Vöröskereszt: https://voroskereszt.hu/elsosegely/vizsgak-2/

Please note that the exam fee must be paid directly to the Vöröskereszt, not to the driving school.

Driving licence application

After successfully passing the practical driving exam, you can apply for your driving licence at any document office. The licence is usually issued within 30 days.

Required documents:

  • ID card

  • Medical fitness certificate

  • First aid exam certificate

  • Existing driving licence (if applicable)

What can you drive with a Category B driving licence?

Passenger car

With a Category B licence, you can drive a passenger car with a maximum authorized mass of 3,500 kg. The vehicle may carry up to 9 people, including the driver.

Moped (light motor vehicle)

A Category B driving licence also entitles you to drive a moped, provided the vehicle has an engine capacity of no more than 50 cm³ and a maximum speed of 45 km/h.

Motorhome

Motorhomes with a maximum authorized mass not exceeding 3.5 tons can be driven with a Category B driving licence. These vehicles are equipped for travel and temporary living.

Agricultural tractor

Driving an agricultural tractor is also permitted with a Category B licence, provided the vehicle complies with road traffic regulations and is not used for industrial purposes.

Light truck

A light truck used for transporting goods, with a maximum authorized mass of up to 3,500 kg, can also be driven with a Category B licence, making it suitable for smaller transport tasks.

Vehicle with trailer

A light trailer (up to 750 kg) can be towed freely if the driving licence has been held for at least 2 years. Above 750 kg, the combined maximum authorized mass of the car and trailer must not exceed 3,500 kg; otherwise, a B+E category licence is required.

TRANSFER FROM ANOTHER DRIVING SCHOOL

Transfer of training certificate

If you have already started your course at another driving school but would prefer to continue with us, all we need is a so-called training certificate issued by your previous school. According to regulations, the training provider is required to issue this within 5 days upon your request.

Payment of administrative fee

Once we receive this certificate from you, we will handle all the necessary paperwork, so you will have no further tasks. For students transferring from another school, we charge an administrative fee.

Scheduling an appointment

You can also send us the training certificate by email, so there is no need to visit our office in person. It is recommended to indicate your available times for driving and your preferred training location right away, so we can find a suitable instructor for you as quickly as possible.

TRANSFER FOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

Here’s how you can transfer/enroll with us if you completed the theoretical course at a secondary school and have already passed your KRESZ exam:

In the academic system (KRÉTA), you can download the Training Certificate required for transfer. In the case of a minor, parental approval is also required in the KRÉTA system. If you present the Training Certificate at our school, we will print a so-called Statement of Acceptance for you from the Közlekedési Alkalmassági és Vizsgaközpont (KAV) KVAR system. With the Training Certificate and the Statement of Acceptance, you can personally request the finalization of the transfer at any KAV road customer service office (https://kavk.hu/kapcsolat/kozuti-ugyfelszolgalatok). After that, you can begin your practical training.

KAV customer service offices near our school:

1119 Budapest, Petzvál József utca 39.
2013 Pomáz, Szmolnyica dűlő 059/16 hrsz.
